#29 will miss about florida

you know those things you never realized you'd miss... but do.

i never thought i'd miss, of all things, the movie theaters there. i lived very near disneyworld/epcot/etc etc. like close enough to watch the fireworks every night close. so, everything was nice for the tourists.
the theaters around here are smaller, the typical movie snack and the chairs are no where near as plush.
i would see movies at downtown disney or universal studios citywalk there. the chairs either rocked or reclined, amazing sound systems (hey, it was disney).

i find myself not going as often as i did. but, i also work a lot.

#25 will miss

when i finally leave Florida 1 thing i will so miss and I'm not being sarcastic is the shuttle. the space shuttle that is. i can watch the launches from my back yard. the night launches are amazing. a true marvel. it's so bright, you'd swear is daytime. when they're landing, you get the sonic booms. to this day, after all these years, they still startle me. then, 2 seconds later you say "please let that be the shuttle". happened a few minutes ago BTW. people who aren't used to it always ask if something hit the building. ha!

Cassadaga

it's a "psychic" community. just the weirdness of it. i know it's all a big hoax. but, just to try to explain it to some people.......they get all oooooohhhhhhh and have to go.

#21 won't miss and #23 will miss

Daytona 500

this is another one of those good and evil deals.
the good: hours at work. i don't even live in daytona. but, a lot of those people come over this way (Disney area). most of the fans are rather nice. MOST!
the bad: traffic. waits at restaurants.

foreign tourists. yep, you read that right. I'd say 90% are awesome. love the different accents.

funny memory:
an extremely nice 40something British guy was trying to ask where he could find a payphone. the best part was that he'd end every sentence with "that's what they call it in my country".

Hurricanes!!!!

credit to wiki

i know some of you are saying "will miss? is she nuts?" hear me out on this. it's an amazing storm. 99% of the time you have ample time to know to get out of the way. (let's face it, they don't sneak up on places). choice surfing conditions. after a certain amount, you get to the point of realizing they aren't scary. you respect them.

saturday 3s

a few things i will miss about Florida.
~my sister. she lives 7 hrs away. but, it's my closest relative. we're pretty close even with the distance.
~watching the sunrise at the beach. just gorgeous.
~the smell of orange blossoms.

a few things i won't miss.
~right turn from left turn lane across 4 lanes of traffic.
~the whole "right to work" state deal. it's basically you can be fired and someone else will gt your job for  way lesspay. just with a different title.
~high sales tax. nuff said.

ugly Florida tomatoes.
you can get tomatoes from Florida in many parts of the us. but, only in Florida can you get these homely fruits. they taste a lot better than they look. or most other tomatoes in general. but, for some reason, they don't send them to other states.

i have a love/hate deal with this place. the same way i look at any zoo. it's so close, you'd visit every year in school. i don't go very often anymore. and, i drive passed here at least once a week.

places being open on holidays. due to the large amount of tourists, there are places to eat, shop, go to movies, etc etc etc. for someone like me who isn't much into holidays, this is a good thing.

#12 will miss

this is going to sound horrible. but, one thing i will miss is screwing with stupid tourists. I'm not talking about the cool ones. this is for the oblivious ones.
example: a few years ago, i was at a gas station. there was a hurricane heading straight for the area. (3 in a few months). a tourist (touron) asked me if
1. Disney would stay open (i guessed no. i don't work there. watch the news)
2. would Disney be safe.
3. what about her park-hopper passes?
i told her that Disney has a special dome that covers the parks for just such a reason. she believed me. didn't even catch on to the sarcasm about the employees not giving a damn what happens to their family/homes. and, definitely don't get nasty at a store/restaurant/gas station and expect correct directions. you'll end up in utah before sea world.

#10 will miss

the idea that cold is anything under 65 degrees. just remember the humidity works for hot and cold weather. so, it'll feel colder. but, yeah, we can be a bit of a sissy. :P actually, i go to other places and the cold doesn't bother me too much.
